Daniel Carrol, BS
Farm Coach GFH @ North Shore. Graduate from The College of Agriculture at the University of Vermont. Daniel has been farming in Hawaii since 2011, including 3.5 years managing and leading education about an organic operation at a large Oahu farm. He is an active Board Member of the Hawaii Organic Farmers Association and operates an Avocado farm in Waialua.
Jay Bost, MSc
Farm Coach at GFH @ Windward. Jay has degrees in Agroecology and Interdisciplinary Ecology. His work in agriculture and ethnobotany have taken him to New Mexico, Tanzania, St. Croix (USVI), Mexico, Belize, and Missouri. Jay has both worked and taught at numerous market vegetable farms and vegetable seed farms. Jay has recently been involved with the Student Organic Seed Symposium, Organicology, and the annual meetings of the Society of Economic Botany and Agriculture, Food, and Human Values Society.
Steven Chiang, MBA
Director of the Agribusiness Incubator Program and GFH. Steven has worked with over 400 businesses from a wide range of industries across the U.S., has held a number of managerial and executive positions at high technology and global consulting firms, and has been an invited presenter on business incubation and entrepreneurship in ten countries. He provides instruction and consulting to GFH students in business management topics.
Ann Emmsley, BS
Assoc. Professor of Agriculture at UH Maui College and Coach/Coordinator of GFH @ Maui. Ann, a recipient of the UH Regents' Medal for Excellence in Teaching, has taught hundreds of Hawaii students in the science, production, and business aspects of agriculture.
Leonard Hall, GFH AgPro
Assistant at GFH @ Windward. Leonard is an AgPro cohort 2 graduate and AgIncubator farmer. He brings his long experience with the program, as well as his agricultural education at WCC, to help teach and mentor current students.
Eric Hansen, MSc
Program Coordinator/Coach at GFH @ Kaua`i. Eric has a M.S. in Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science and a B.S. in Environmental Science from UH Hilo. His work experiences include commercial taro farming, orchard production, sales at farmers markets, botanical inventories for EIS, an internship at NRCS, and managing the largest ex-situ collection of endangered flora for the National Tropical Botanical Garden.
Ted Radovich, PhD
Dr. Ted Radovich is principle investigator of the sustainable and organic farming systems laboratory in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at UH Mānoa. He is currently working with growers and other agriculturalist statewide to investigate links between ecological farming practices, yield, and crop quality. He is co-coordinator of the WSARE PDP and CTAHR Sustainable and Organic Agriculture programs, and manages 3 acres of certified organic land at the Waimānalo Research Station. http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/radovichT
Nora Rodli, MS
Farm Coordinator at GFH @ Windard. After receiving her BA in Anthropology and Latin American Studies, Nora spent the next 12 years as an owner/manager of a 10-acre diversified organic vegetable and poultry farm. She also worked for a Biodynamic farm in Northern Florida, managed a farm in the Virgin Islands and started an educational garden in Mexico. To tie her interests of agriculture and community health together, she is pursuing a Masters in Advanced Public Health Nursing at UH Manoa.
Erik Shimizu, BA
Consultant with the UH Agribusiness Incubator Program, Erik provides training and consulting for GFH AgPro students. Erik has worked in large CPA firms and businesses specializing in accounting, and at a global professional services firm as a management consultant.
Koon-Hui Wang, PhD
Assistant Professor for Sustainable Pest Management Program at CTAHR and Principal Investigator for the Center of Rural Agricultural Training and Entrepreneurship (CRATE). Dr. Wang's interests are related to sustainable food production and include cover cropping, integrating insectary plants into agroecosystems, conservative biological control for plant-parasitic nematodes, and introducing beneficial soil inoculum to enhance host plant resistance. She is part of the GFH founding council and continues to contribute through her teaching on various production topics.
Janel Yamamoto, MBA
Consultant with the UH Agribusiness Incubator Program, Janel provides training and consulting for GFH AgPro students. Janel has been VP of a large bank in Hawaii and has particular expertise in finance, compliance, and human resource issues.
