Another group of aspiring farmers begins their journey of learning and experiencing farming at the Windward program ( @wcchawaii ). It's amazing to think that across our four program sites, we have taught or are teaching 14 cohorts of students, totaling over 160 potential new farmers for Hawaii! In the AgSchool phase alone (which the pictured students have just started), each student will spend around 170 hours of class and field time, plus many more hours studying assigned materials just to gain a basic understanding of all that it takes to be a Farmer. Farming is one of the most intellectually, physically, and emotionally demanding vocations that one can undertake, but feeds your body, mind, and spirit like no other! Farmers might have a lot to complain about, but in the end most can't imagine doing anything else ;-)
