Cover crop cut and field prepped. Walk-behind tiller work done by students, some of whom initially had trepidation dealing with the power of the "beast." Soil amendments and irrigation being installed. Plantings in the mist house are looking good and ready for transplanting. Students are happy to have the opportunity to learn how to build a farm/mist propagation facility from scratch. Apologies for the poor camera-phone pix.
Representative Tulsi Gabbard came to KCC for a visit last week to tour the apiary and other Sustainability projects we have, including Go Farm! I had two of my students, Alex Landry and Jeremy Hillstrom speak to her (after I was done) about the importance of the GoFarm Hawai`i program and they were also able to suit up for some bee work.
Here are a few pictures from her visit.
