AgCurious was held on February 25, 2014 from 5:30-8:30pm at Leeward Community College. Dave Ringuette from Windward Community College (WCC) was on hand to explain the history of Hawaii’s agriculture industry. He also gave an overview of the GoFarm Hawaii program. Six current GoFarm Hawai`i students shared their experiences and let the audience know what essential farming skills they learned thus far. Successful O`ahu farmers, Milton Agader (Twin Bridges) and Gary Maunakea-Forth (Ma'o) ‘talked story’ about their start-up experiences, challenges, and life as a farmer.
Hard to imaging needing water given the recent weather, but students getting more practice on how to put together the drip irrigation together.
Thanks to Glenn Teves (CTAHR Moloka'i Extension Agent), who shared his deep experience and lots of stories on farming successfully in Hawaii. Due to the heavy rains, cover crop only now getting put down, and seedlings are very ready to be transplanted.
