And their off! AgPro cohort 7 students have mowed and tilled in the cover crop in their plots and are now forming beds and incorporating amendments. But where is winter? It's hot out here!
Our first AgPro cohort at Waialua had to make do with makeshift facilities, but Kevin Flanagan of Agrefab (and Waimanalo farmer and GoFarm Hawaii goto-guy for repairs on O'ahu) built this sweet 3-line food safety compliant wash station and cold storage cooler using Cool-Bot (tm) technology. Thanks to Kevin and Pioneer for making this happen! The next cohort will be SO spoiled!
Between 30 and 40 people attended the AgCurious session at our North Shore site at Pioneer Waialua, where they learned about the GoFarm Hawaii journey and heard from past students. As graduate Paulo said when asked what warnings or word of wisdom he had for the audience: "none, just do it!" The attendees were also among the first to see the new farmer video https://youtu.be/rfun8E5U9Ns
New round of GoFarm Hawai'i @ Kaua'i starts with the AgCurious event on Feb. 22nd at KCC, 6pm. Checkout the sweet poster Coach Eric designed all by himself!
Our very first AgCurious event was held in Honoka'a on the Big Island. It was a great turnout with about 50 people attending, including speakers from Hawaii County and Kamehameha Schools (both supporters of the program), beginning farrmers, and uncle Jim Cain of King Laulau poi. Thanks to The Kohala Center for partnering with us to make this happen!
Next comes AgXposure and AgSchool -- Exciting!
